Little Penguin

This is such a cute little pattern – it’s fast, doesn’t use a lot of yarn and very simple to follow. I usually work with DK yarn and this is the first project using (mostly) worsted. His feet and beak are DK and I think perhaps it would have been good to use DK for the belly as well so it’s not as chunky… but on the other hand, there is nothing wrong with being a cute and chubby little penguin.

So I made another one of these as a birthday present for my sister and took my own advice regarding the belly and eyes. For the second one, which unfortunately I didn’t take a photo of, I used worsted yarn for the body and DK for the details. Due to the perfect size for it, I also attached a key chain to the top so he can be carried around and guard my sister’s keys 🙂

Both are made with Poundstretchers Crown Crest Colour Blend. I love this yarn, both due to the velvety texture and the gradient colours (and the price doesn’t hurt either!).
