This one has a lot of personal meaning, and was made as a gift for my mother.
The base is Bluebell Bookmark Cross Stitch Kit by Textile Heritage. The kit is available from lots of independent shops as well as Amazon or eBay. The grey aida band in the kit is replaced with an 18ct aida and all stitches are made with two threads rather than three. The backing is a black felt.
What makes it special is the lace band, which is made by my great grandmother. She was incredibly productive when it comes to crafting, and crochet lace was her go-to, because it’s easy to bring along everywhere. I still have several full lace rolls that were given to me to play and craft with as a child, and I’m proud to be able to pair it up with my own crafts as an adult.
I hope my amazing grandmother and great grandmother would both be happy if they could see this <3
